Amb. Debora Lepre joins the International Gender Champions network

VIENNA, 15 NOVEMBRE – Ambassador Debora Lepre, the Italian Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna, joined the International Gender Champions, committing herself to promote gender equality and women empowerment in her daily work.

“As a founding member of the Italian Women Diplomats Association, I have been a strong advocate for gender equality and women’s empowerment throughout my career. I am not afraid to be ambitious and I firmly believe that women can and should achieve as much as men”, Ambassador Lepre said in her mission statement: “It is key to show the new generations that there is a different, fair and constructive way for women and men to contribute together to the transformative processes of our societies. Through joint efforts and constant commitment, we can make it here with the Vienna-based Organizations. As an International Gender Champion, I will strongly engage to promote a credible change”, she added.

The International Gender Champions (IGC) is a leadership network that brings together decision-makers determined to break down gender barriers and make gender equality a working reality in their spheres of influence. The initiative was co-founded by former UN Geneva Director-General Michael Møller, former US Ambassador to the UN in Geneva Pamela Hamamoto and Women@TheTable CEO/Founder Caitlin Kraft-Buchman in 2015.

The network numbers over 330 active Champions, including Ambassador Maurizio Massari, the Italian Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, and 340 Alumni who are the heads of International Organizations, Permanent Missions, and Civil Society Organizations. (@OnuItalia)
