NEW YORK, SEPTEMBER 12 – As Vice President of UN Women, the Italian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Maurizio Massari, chaired today a “fruitful” meeting of the organization’s Executive Board.
Structured dialogue on financing and ethics were on the agenda of the afternoon session chaired by Ambassador Massari who reiterated the shared commitment to back UN Women’s agenda for gender equality and women and girls’ empowerment. “Ahead of the 78th General Assembly we will keep up the good work to make SDG5 reality”, he remarked.
The UN Women Executive Board is the Governing Body of UN Women. Italy was elected by acclamation for the first time to the Vice Presidency in January with a two years mandate. The 2023 Executive Board Presidency went to the Ukrainian Ambassador to the UN Sergiy Kyslytsya. Together with Italy, three Vice-Presidents are serving until 2024 in representation of the respective geographical groups: Colombia, Cameroon and Thailand.(@OnuItalia)
