BOLOGNA, JULY 26 – Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Bologna has joined the United Nations Global Compact, a voluntary initiative that encourages companies to adopt responsible and sustainable business practices.
Nazareno Ventola, the CEO of AdB, the company that manages the airport, emphasizes the organization’s commitment to sustainability across all aspects of its operations. “Joining the United Nations Global Compact for us is a natural step that demonstrates the growing commitment of the AdB Group towards a more sustainable business model”, said Ventola: “Our strategy aims to incorporate sustainability into all our development actions, with equal attention to environmental, social, and economic aspects.”
Launched in 2000 by the then-United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan, the UN Global Compact invites companies from around the world to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption and to act in support of the goals set forth in the UN 2030 Agenda. To date, over 20,000 companies from 162 countries have joined the Global Compact worldwide, including approximately 550 companies in Italy, among the most dedicated to sustainability issues.
