Italy elected as Vice-Chair of the UN Committee on Information

NEW YORK, APRIL 24 – Italy has been elected today as vice-Chair of the U.N. Committee on Information Bureau with a mandate for 2023-24. Along with Italy, represented by Mission spokesperson Ludovica Murazzani, delegates from Latvia, El Salvador and Madagascar were elected to the vice chairmanship, while the Committee chairmanship went to Pakistan.

Italy is honored to be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee’s Bureau, the Mission said on Twitter. “Ready to take on this responsibility and to closely work with my fellow Bureau members to uphold UN Department of Global Communications work and promote a better public information global ecosystem while countering mis-disinformation”, said Murazzani.

The Committee on Information is a subsidiary body of the General Assembly. Currently, the Committee is composed of 121 Member States. It is an open-ended body and any Member State, not yet Member of the Committee, can request membership by applying through the Secretariat. (@OnuItalia)
