Water Conference: Pichetto signs MoU with Caricom Countries, RDC

NEW YORK, MARCH 24 – A few important agreements were signed during the second World Water Conference whose proceedings folded up today at UN Headquarters. The Italian Minister for the Environment, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin signed the latest Memorandum of Understanding between Italy and CARICOM countries.

The agreement is yet another key step to boost the cooperation for sustainable development between the Caribbean region and Italy, the Italian Mission said on Twitter.

Building on previous Memorandum of Understanding unlocking Italian funds for renewables a energy security, Pichetto and the Vice-premier of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Eve Bazaiba, signed a document that boosts bilateral cooperation to tackle climate change and improve access to clean energy.

Pichetto also met with his Ukrainian counterpartRuslan Strilets, to whom he reiterated Italy’s commitment to strengthening cooperation for environmental protection as part of the broader support to Ukraine’s reconstruction.  (@OnuItalia)
