GENEVA, FEBRUARY 8 – During a briefing by the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General on Violence against Children, Najat Maalla M’jid, promoted by the “Informal Group of Friends of the Rights of the Child” in view of the 49th session of the Human Rights Council, the Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Gian Lorenzo Cornado, highlighted the recent adoption of the fifth National Plan of Action and interventions for the protection of the rights and development of persons of developmental age 2022-2023.
The Ambassador highlighted, in particular, how the National Plan of Action is based on the principles of education, equity and empowerment, aspiring to realize the right of children to live free from all forms of violence, both online and offline, while accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in line with the vision expressed by the Special Representative.
