Sara Manisera, an Italian journalist, wins UNCA Award for “Iraq without Water”

NEW YORK, NOVEMBER 16 – Sara Manisera, an independent journalist, has won one of the United Nations Correspondents’ Association (UNCA) awards with a documentary on climate change in Iraq.

Manisera was congratulated by the Italian Permanent Representation to the UN and Ambassador Maurizio Massari in a message on Twitter. Other journalists from various countries around the world will be honored with Sara. The awards will be presented on December 8 at a gala evening attended by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

“Iraq without water”, produced by the Italian Ngo Un Ponte Per and released in 2020, is a webdoc that chronicles the efforts of young Iraqi environmentalists to defend the right to water. Sara works in the Middle East, in particular in Lebanon, Iraq and Syria. Her work focuses on women, civil society, environment, human rights and conflicts.
