Italy’s Youth Minister Dadone addresses UN policy forum on agri-food systems

NEW YORK, JULY 14 – “We are at a time when it is particularly important that young people have their say: we must consider their rights and expectations for the transformation and innovation of agri-food systems”, said Minister for Youth Policy Fabiana Dadone addressing today a UN policy forum focused on rebuilding societies and economies after the Covid-19 pandemic with a special attention to actions and ideas for the transformation of agri-food systems.

“In cooperation with the Italian National Youth Agency (ANG) and the National Youth Council (CNG) – said the Minister – I am strongly supporting the initiative of the WFF (Wood Food Forum, the youth initiative of the FAO) and the UNFSS (the upcoming September United Nations Food Systems Summit) to launch a global platform engaging young people in thinking about sustainable food systems.”

In support of this initiative, on July 1st Dadone launched a consultation, with ANG (the government body, supervised by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the European Commission, to promote active citizenship among young people) and the CNG (the consultative body which is responsible for representing young people in the interlocution with the institutions for any comparison on policies affecting the world of youth) which has so far received about 3 thousand responses from young citizens aged 14 to 35 years: “It is necessary to build a dialogue based on trust, showing them that what they have to say counts and recognizing the value of their contribution,” noted Fabiana Dadone.
