Italian President Sergio Mattarella Thanks UNESCO on Behalf of Italy

PARIS, JULY 6 – Thank you for the work you have done. This is how Italian President Sergio Mattarella has chosen to recognize UNESCO on his visit to Paris. UNESCO headquarters are situated in the French capital, as Paris stands as a key landmark of cultural preservation, a city that exhibits values that coincide with the founding pillars of the UN agency.

Mattarella is on a state visit to France, and today he went to the UNESCO headquarters for a brief meeting with Director-General Audrey Azoulay. Addressing those present, the President of the Republic said he wanted to express “Italy’s gratitude for the role of UNESCO, and for the careful conservation of what must be preserved and safeguarded.”

In June 2020, Mattarella received Director Azoulay at the Quirinal Palace in Rome, a meeting in which Minister Dario Franceschini also participated. (@BrittanyBryantF)
