ROME, SEPTEMBER 11 – Italy is sending relief medical supplies to Libya. The humanitarian shipment from the Italian Cooperation service, consisting of more than 10 tons of medicines and relief medical and hygiene supplies, was shipped from the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) of Brindisi and reached the Port of Tripoli this morning.
The supply of humanitarian supplies responds to a request made to Italy by the World Health Organization (WHO), which plans to use the Italian supplies to provide healthcare assistance to the Libyan population and to the migrants and refugees affected by the conflict that is ongoing in the Country.
Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, said that the restoration of stability in Libya a priority for his new government. Addressing the Italian House of Representatives in Rome before the vote of confidence to his government, Conte said that his continued and personal commitment to achieving stability in Libya is a sure sign to the importance that Rome attaches to this region of the world.
He also pointed out that his frequent visits to Libya come to encourage productive meetings and political relations. (@OnuItalia)
