Logistics Base in Brindisi: Giovanna Ceglie is the first woman director

BRINDISI, AUGUST 9 — Giovanna Ceglie, the new director of the United Nations Logistics Base and first woman in this role, was today welcomed by Brindisi’s Mayor, Riccardo Rossi. During the meeting the importance of exchanges with the community and the city of Brindisi was underlined, as the October celebrations for the 25th anniversary of existence of the UN logistical base approaches.

“I am happy that a woman now directs the United Nations Logistics Base, we have found numerous points of contact and have fixed short-term objectives for our community, I wish her success in her work and a pleasant stay in our city,” said Rossi, underlining that the dialogue of the administration with the UN is to remain constant in order to proceed with what has been constructed thus far and reinforce the effort towards common objectives.

One of these is to develop the future of the Base not only within its mission of peace, but also in the sector of sustainable technological innovation and in environmental security, with repercussions also on the territory. (@OnuItalia/Scintilla Benevolo)
