Zappia and other VIPs to attend Model UN Change the World Event

NEW YORK, MARCH 28 – Italy’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Mariangela Zappia will be present at the Change the World Event hosted at the UN Secretariat Building. The yearly event organized by Associazione Diplomatici brings more three thousand Model UN students from around the world to New York. This year’s conference marks the eighth edition of the event that convenes youth interested in international mediation to the Big Apple. The theme of this year’s conference was inclusion.

 

Associazione Diplomatici’s is an NGO recognized as an official UN partner, with consulting status for ECOSOC. Since its founding in 2000, the organization has prepared more than 30,000 students throughout the world for careers related to international affairs. It does this through scholastic programs like the Change the World event.

The talking points for this year’s edition will reflect upon the ideas of democracy and liberty since the fall of the Berlin Wall, 30 years ago. Students from over 100 countries will play the role of ambassadors, ministers, and Prime ministers in simulations of international meetings such as the G8, G20, World Bank, and IMF. Alongside Zappia, other high-profile experts will attend the event as guides and mentors to the students. These individuals include Former Premier Enrico Letta, Former Foreign Affairs Minister Angelino Alfano and Liliana Segre, soccer star Michel Platini, biologist Ilaria Capua, and UNICEF Director Henrietta Holsman Fore.
